Bailey Brosamer is a trumpeter, composer, and arranger from the Bay Area, California. They believe collaboration is key to unlocking the individual’s potential in music and are constantly looking to interact with new voices. They have performed in many different ensembles from big band jazz orchestra to small band pop, a love for all music fueling their adaptability. As a writer, their heart primarily lies with the stylings of modern jazz fusion and large ensemble jazz. Their sextet, the Brosamer Collective is set to release an album of music originally conceived as a suite entitled “Self-Acceptance and Inspiration,” featuring an eclectic mix of improvisation and fusion music. As Bailey’s debut album, it is the product of countless hours spent writing, practicing, rehearsing, revising, and recording and the summation of their experience with music thus far. With their large ensemble, the Brosamer Collective Big Band, they are in the process of recording a second album entitled “Always From The Heart,” which is a project dedicated to many of the people who are an integral part of Bailey’s musical community. The music for this album is set to be premiered in a recital on July 25th at 7:00 PM EST, featuring many of the people the music is dedicated to.

Outside of their work as a composer, they have performed with many different ensembles and a wide variety of music from a vast spectrum of genres and cultures. As part of a large jazz ensemble, they have premiered one of their pieces featuring Christine Jensen entitled “Uprising,” with the Jazz Composer’s Workshop Orchestra under the direction of Ayn Inserto and Randy Pingrey. They have also enjoyed a two-season tenure with the New Jazz Orchestra, a big band based in Boston and run by jazz composer and arranger David Wright that performed at spaces including Warehouse XI in Somerville and the Lilypad in Cambridge. They have also performed at the Berklee Performance Center alongside the widely acclaimed pianist and composer Srisley, for her show “Srisley and Friends,” featuring some of her large ensemble compositions. As a part of larger productions, Bailey co-composed the piece “The Rivers And The Sea,” alongside composer Enrico Widodo for the Berklee ASEAN production “Echoes of Home,” for which Bailey was also featured on trumpet. They have also played festivals like the New England Indonesian Festival the Berklee Indonesian Community Ensemble and “Who We Are,” an Asian music festival, with the Berklee Indonesian Community Ensemble and the Berklee Malaysian Association Ensemble. In addition to their performances in the Boston area, they have also done a fair amount of session work for local musicians and composers, including with the composer and erhu player Esther Dong for her single “Mourning,” and for Dava Giustizia’s single “Naya,” which both feature Bailey on trumpet.
